The Running Clinic

Yorkshire is a fantastic place for running but like any sports this can result in injury. Our approach to treating running injuries is to undertake a detailed history followed by a clinical and biomechanical assessment, including an analysis of footwear. This helps the clinician to reach a diagnosis, but also helps to identify any factors that have contributed to the onset or aggravation of the injury.
Many overuse injuries have a biomechanical component to the problem with injury resulting from poor foot posture and instability. During the treatment course, we may therefore recommend a particular type of running shoe or prescribe an insole (orthotic) to provide extra support to the foot and ankle to correct biomechanical alignment. Some of the running injuries we treat in clinic include gluteal tendinopathy, trochanteric bursitis, ITB friction syndrome, runners knee, shin splints, calf strains, achilles tendinopathy and plantar fasciitis.
